    Grimm Prop Photo

NBC’s “Grimm” contacted me to create a period photograph for use in Episode 6, “Three Bad Wolves” (aired 12/9/2011). They needed a family photo that looked like it was from the mid 1980s, which was to be found in the rubble of a burned down home.

    Watch the episode here!

Here’s the plot synopsis: “Nick is called to a suspected arson case, which exposes a longstanding family feud that brings Monroe face-to-face with characters from his troubled past. While Monroe wrestles with restraining his wild side, it’s up to Nick to keep everything from going up in flames.”

January 2011 – I was contacted by the people at Nudage about submitting some work for consideration for their event in Madrid. It’s pretty cool–here’s some info about Nudage:

“Espacio NUDAGE is a multi disciplined event, dedicated to emerging talent in design. The event is sponsered by the Council of Culture, Tourism and Sport of Cantabria. A space to exhibit work by young designers both national and international, under the age of 35. Designers whose talent and creativity will drive future developments in innovation and advance the economic, social and cultural levels in our society.

The event is defined as design in its pure state, ‘additive free’, a forum for the imagination. A place to share ideas and experiences of young creative minds. The space is catergorised into four areas of design: industrial, interior, fashion and photography.

Nudage is a commitment to creativity and represents an investment to imagination and ideas. Design is product of capacities and demands of the mind, to reflect, communicate and dignify everday contexts, both the indiviual and the collective.

The event will be held in Santander, Spain, from 24 – 30 January 2011 at The Provencial Historic Archive and Cantabria Regional Archives and The State Public Library and Central Library of Cantabria.”

Robbie Augspurger’s halo-framed, serious soft lit yearbook style photos of meta-mockingly universal avant-garde hipsters kind of look like every kid I went to art school with. Alone, meditative, satirically pleased in their undulous Alanis Morisette-induced irony, they hold symbols of their trade. Cheap beer, American Apparel headbands, bushy beards, outmoded key-tars, bad/good sunglasses (including post-op laser eye surgery senior citizen style & your weird Uncle’s shades) and Bill Cosby sweaters. You know the type. I can’t explain why simple headshots of people who look like extras in a Miranda July/Michael Cera movie, done in tasteful/tasteless late 80’s/early 90’s Kodachrome, are so endlessly amusing. But they are. Robbie also does wedding portraiture. Fitting though, right?” –Beautiful/Decay Magazine
